My Agenda for Change

Transparency & Accountability

Transparency & Accountability

Transparency & Accountability

I believe that open communication and accountability are the foundation of trust. I am committed to ensuring that all decisions made by the Keller ISD Board are transparent and that parents, teachers, and the community have a clear voice in shaping the future of our district.

Student Centered Excellence

Transparency & Accountability

Transparency & Accountability

Every decision should focus on what’s best for our students. I will work to ensure that every child in Keller ISD has access to the resources, programs, and support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Preparing our students for college, careers, and life will remain my top priority.

Community Collaboration

Fiscal Responsibility and Innovation

Fiscal Responsibility and Innovation

Strong schools are built on strong community partnerships. I will work to create a Business Advisory Council where Keller ISD collaborates with local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce to ensure our schools are aligned with the needs of the community. This council will provide valuable insights on current workforce trends, skills in demand, and opportunities for our students, helping to prepare them for successful futures while strengthening the connection between education and economic growth.

Fiscal Responsibility and Innovation

As a steward of taxpayer dollars, I will ensure that our district’s budget is managed responsibly, prioritizing classroom needs and minimizing waste. I will advocate for innovative solutions to address financial challenges while maintaining the high standards of education Keller ISD is known for.

Community Dialogue on District Reorganization

The recent discussions surrounding the potential division of Keller ISD have understandably raised numerous questions and concerns within our community. I firmly believe that such a significant decision must be approached with complete transparency and active community involvement. It is essential that we, as a community, thoroughly understand the rationale, potential benefits, and possible drawbacks of this proposal. Decisions of this magnitude should not be made behind closed doors or driven by hidden agendas. I am committed to advocating for open dialogue, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to pertinent information and the opportunity to voice their perspectives. Together, through collective understanding and collaboration, we can determine the best path forward for the future of our district.  I DO NOT SUPPORT A DISTRICT SPLIT!

What is your stance on the Texas school voucher program?

I oppose the Texas school voucher program. Vouchers divert essential funds from public schools to private institutions, potentially undermining the quality of public education. I am committed to strengthening our public schools to ensure every child can access quality education.

How do you plan to support public education?

I am passionate about public education and will advocate for equitable funding across all schools, ensuring every child has access to quality education. I also support vocational training and partnerships with local businesses to prepare students for career opportunities.

How will you support special education programs and mental health initiatives?

With a background in psychology and personal experience supporting my own child's mental health needs, I understand the critical importance of these services. I will advocate for comprehensive support systems, including specialized staff training, accessible resources, and inclusive policies that address the diverse needs of all students.

What is your perspective on curriculum development, such as the Bluebonnet Learning materials?

Curriculum development should be a collaborative process involving educators, parents, and community members. While I recognize that materials like Bluebonnet Learning are designed to improve student outcomes, it's essential to ensure that any curriculum adopted reflects our community's values and meets the diverse needs of our students. Curriculums must evolve, but it takes everyone's involvement to make key decisions.

How will you ensure fiscal responsibility in government spending?

Every dollar matters. I will prioritize budgets that reflect the community's needs, eliminate wasteful spending, and work to increase efficiencies while ensuring transparency and accountability in all fiscal decisions.

Where have you been?

My work with Keller ISD started in 2015 when I worked with the counseling and intervention department on a youth mentoring program.  Over the past 15 years, I have been deeply committed to serving our community through active engagement and leadership. Whether it was All Pro Dads, WatchDog Program, Athletics, Booster Clubs, Mock Inteviews, or any other activity I can be involved in, I am actively present with not only my children's schools, but all of Keller ISD.  I have met with parents, teachers, and local businesses to foster collaboration and strengthen our schools. My service extends beyond education, as I proudly serve on the board of directors for multiple non-profits and community organizations, working to create meaningful change. Whether supporting local schools, advocating for student success, or engaging with businesses to build stronger connections, my focus has always been on leadership, service, and community growth.

What are your thoughts on single member voting districts?

While I understand the interest in single-member districts—especially given the current dynamics in Keller—my focus in this at-large election is on serving the broader needs of our entire community.

Single-member districts have many disadvantages like cost and they often lead to uneven representation and increase division, as trustees may prioritize their area over the district as a whole.

I believe in a representative form of government. Historically, Keller ISD trustees have served all students, regardless of where they lived. The recent challenges we’ve seen shouldn’t be addressed by one board member or a judge. A shift this significant should be decided by the voters—not by any single person.

What are your thoughts on the books discussion?

As a candidate for the Keller Independent School District (KISD) Board of Trustees, I am deeply committed to ensuring our school libraries provide a safe, educational, and inclusive environment for all students. The concerns regarding inappropriate books in our libraries have sparked meaningful conversations within our community. I want to address these concerns head-on while reinforcing my support for the thoughtful and balanced policies already in place.

Acknowledging Community Concerns

I understand the alarm parents and community members felt upon discovering books with explicit content in our school libraries. Over the past several years, titles such as Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe, Flamer by Mike Curato, and Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) by L.C. Rosen have been identified as containing sexually explicit material. These books, which include graphic depictions of sexual acts and themes that many agree are not suitable for young students, should never have been placed in our school libraries. I fully support the district’s decision to remove these titles and commend the efforts of parents and educators who brought them to light.

At the same time, I recognize that our libraries must remain spaces that foster learning, critical thinking, and exposure to diverse perspectives. While controversial to some, books like The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison and the graphic novel adaptation of The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank offer valuable historical and literary insights. However, even these works must be carefully evaluated to ensure they are age-appropriate and aligned with our educational goals.

Existing Policy

I stand firmly behind the book rubric and policies outlined in EFB (Local) that the current Board of Trustees implemented in August 2022. These policies, developed in alignment with the Texas Education Agency’s guidelines, provide a structured and transparent process for reviewing and selecting library materials. The rubric evaluates books across 14 categories, including profanity, violence, and sexual content, ensuring that each title is assessed for appropriateness based on clear, objective criteria.

This policy also includes a 30-day public review period for new purchases and mandates that challenged books be temporarily removed during the review process. This approach strikes the right balance between protecting students from harmful content and ensuring our libraries remain rich educational resources. It is a policy rooted in collaboration, transparency, and community involvement—values I will continue to champion if elected.

A Balanced Approach for All

I believe that our school libraries should reflect the diversity of thought and experience in our community while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students. This means safeguarding children from explicit material while ensuring access to books that broaden their understanding of the world. The current policy achieves this by involving parents, educators, and the board in a thorough review process that respects both concerns for student protection and the importance of educational diversity.

I am committed to upholding this balanced approach. If elected, I will work to ensure that our book selection process remains rigorous, transparent, and responsive to community feedback. I will also advocate for ongoing communication between the district and families so that parents feel empowered to raise concerns and trust that they will be addressed promptly and fairly.

Moving Forward Together

The issue of library content is complex, but we can navigate it together by focusing on our shared goal: providing the best possible education for our children. I am dedicated to maintaining the integrity of our libraries and ensuring they remain places where students can explore, learn, and grow in a safe and supportive environment.  Together, we can ensure that our schools reflect the values of our community and prepare our children for a bright future.
